My service activities support the academic missions of the University of Florida (UF), College of Design, Construction and Planning (DCP), and the School of Architecture (SOA). These activities allow me to contribute to the mission of shared governance in a substantive way. I have served as the elected Chair of the University of Florida Infrastructure Council and as a member of the Senate Steering Committee. These are key roles at the University. I am a member of the Land Use and Facilities Planning Committee and a member of the UF Graduate Student Teaching Awards Committee.
As an Assistant Professor from 2008 to 2015 (six academic years), I served on an average of 1.5 committee or council positions per year at the University level, 2.8 per year at the College level, and 10.5 per year within the School of Architecture. In total during this time, I completed 89 committee assignments and elected positions, averaging 14.8 total assignments per year. Since being promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2015, my service assignments have continued at a similar pace.
I serve as the Faculty Councilor to the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), am the Faculty Advisor for UF’s chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) and am the Architectural Experience Program (formerly Intern Development Program) Education Coordinator for the University of Florida and the National Council of Architectural Review Boards (NCARB). In 2013 and in the years leading up to it, I served as a part of our NAAB Accreditation Team. I helped organize and mount our exhibit and assisted in hosting the visiting team. As a testament to our program’s strengths and the work of the NAAB preparation team, our professional Master of Architecture program was granted an eight-year term of accreditation, the longest term possible.
Outside of the University, my service includes work with the Gainesville Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). I have served as President, Vice-President / President-Elect, and Director for this professional service organization. I serve as a member of journal editorial boards, as a peer reviewer for conferences, journals, and publishers, and as an invited guest critic on studio reviews.

Scholarly Service: Participation as Invited Studio Critic
One of the most important traditions in architectural design education is the final review of student work. These reviews are formal events, with each student verbally presenting his or her work to a jury of faculty and distinguished guests. The role of a guest jury member is to offer fresh input to the discussions of the student work. To be invited to serve as a jury member is recognition of one’s skills as a designer and critic. See Research for more information.
Scholarly Service: Participation as Invited Guest Lecturer
Guest lecturers are often invited to present highly specialized knowledge to students within the framework of a broader course. To be invited to provide these guest lectures is in recognition of one’s depth of knowledge in the field. I have provided a number of guest lectures at both Princeton University and the University of Florida. See Research for more information.
