The Voices of a People: Homes in the Native Village of Tyonek, Alaska

How can academic research support culture and community in extreme climates? This work examines the design and construction of housing for the Tebughna people of the Native Village of Tyonek, Alaska.

BRADLEY WALTERS, AIA, NCARB, is an architect and educator. Mr. Walters is the Edward M. “Ted” Fearney Endowed Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Florida, where he is the Associate Director of Graduate Programs for the School of Architecture. Mr. Walters teaches studio design, architectural detailing, research methods, and professional practice. His current research is centered on high-performance zero-energy buildings, within a broader context of social, artistic, and cultural production. Secondary areas of research include teaching methods, pedagogy, drawing, and visual communications.
